Sunday’s sundown increases the likelihood of severe weather

After sunset, the majority of the metro will experience sporadic showers and storms. The chances persist till early Monday.

Once again, storms tonight provide a hazard of strong wind, very large hail, and even remote tornado risks.

On Sunday evening, storms will move southward towards the metro area from Nebraska and Iowa. These storms’ devastating winds pose the most threat. There is a chance of gusts far above 50 mph.

The worst of the storms will move into Missouri’s north-west between 9 and 10 p.m.

By Monday morning’s daybreak, the storms should have completely left the area.

The late Spring storms in KC won’t finish there. Up until Friday, when the work week comes to a conclusion, there is a probability of thunderstorms and showers every day. Storms on Monday and Tuesday will be more sporadic, but storms with significant damage are still possible on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Though still warm, this week’s highs will be a little lower than the weekend’s record-breaking highs.

Please make sure you frequently check the forecast for changes today and have several reliable, audible ways to get weather alerts at night, such as the KMBC app and/or a NOAA Weather Radio.
