In Gurugram, new incidents of intergroup violence were reported as a crowd set stores on fire while chanting “Jai Shri Ram” in front of a mosque.

The thieves plundered at least three stores in Badshahpur, and a group of men destroyed stores on Basai Road in Gurugram close to Pataudi Chowk.

Ban On The Selling Of Loose Gasoline And Diesel

The instant sale of loose gasoline or diesel is prohibited by an order from Gurugram District Magistrate Nishant Yadav.

According to Yadav, the law and order situation in the Nuh district of Haryana and the surrounding Gurugram suburbs could be threatened by the racial tensions there. He said that in order to keep the district’s public order, peace, and harmony, quick preventive steps were necessary.

The order stated, “With immediate effect, all fuel stations operating in Gurugram district are strictly prohibited from selling loose petrol/diesel to any person (except for emergency purposes).” This was done “[in] exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974), and in the interest of public safety and security.”

In a second order, the official stated that due to the local unrest, all educational institutions in Gurugram’s Sohna neighborhood will be closed on August 2. Other Gurugram neighborhoods’ educational institutions will run normally.

The violence that broke out on Monday following an attack on a VHP march in the neighboring Nuh region has already claimed the lives of five people.

A Social Media Warning

The government pleaded with the people to avoid sharing any information on social media that “may hurt the religious sentiments of any individual or threaten religious harmony.”

According to the warning from Gurugram DM, “it is requested to refrain from using any indecent language and refrain from sharing any videos, photos, or posts with the intention of hurting individuals based on their religion, caste, or any other personal attributes.”

“Posting such offensive material could result in legal action in accordance with the guidelines. It is strongly advised against disseminating false rumors on social media websites. The police would take harsh action against anyone who promotes false information or disparages someone because of their caste or religion, it was added.

VHP Requests An NIA Inquiry

On Tuesday, the Vishva Hindu Parishad compared the episode of communal violence in Haryana to a “terror attack” and requested that the National Investigation Agency conduct an investigation. Surendra Jain, the joint general secretary of the VHP, alleged during a press conference that the attacks on Hindu worshippers on Monday during a religious parade were “pre-planned” and “incited” by some Congress leaders in Haryana. Additionally, he accused the state police of lacking information and asserted that rioters attacked Hindu pilgrims during the parade using sophisticated weaponry as well as common firearms.
