The announcement that English fast bowler Jofra Archer won’t be playing in the IPL 2023 has delivered the Mumbai Indians (MI) a serious setback before their key encounter against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

However, the Mumbai Indians (MI) had already announced that Chris Jordan would be joining them for the rest of the season. With only five games played and two wickets taken at an economy rate of 9.50, Archer’s contribution to the Mumbai Indians (MI) has been negligible.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will continue to monitor Jofra Archer’s recuperation and fitness, thus Chris will take his position in the Mumbai Indians squad. In order to concentrate on his recovery, the cricket player will return home. After being sidelined for nearly two years due to back and elbow ailments, which presented a serious danger to his career, the fast bowler had just recently made his return to international cricket.

Chris Jordan, meanwhile, formerly played for the ECB, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He was offered a base price of Rs 2 crore during the December auction, but he went unsold. The 34-year-old bowler has taken 27 wickets in 28 IPL games since his 2016 IPL debut. A total of 96 T20I wickets have been taken by him in 87 T20I appearances for England. Jordan’s most recent IPL appearance occurred in 2022, when he grabbed two wickets in four games while playing for the Super Kings.

Jofra Archer’s withdrawal from the Indian Premier League was decided upon amicably, according to a statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The ECB revealed that Archer had been feeling difficulty while playing in recent matches and that trying to play through it had proven to be challenging. Archer had been recovering from right elbow surgery. So that he would have the best opportunity of making a full recovery, it was decided that he should go back to the UK for rest and rehabilitation.
