The Detroit Lions have announced that they will be inducting former offensive tackle Lomas Brown into the prestigious Pride of the Lions during halftime of their Homecoming game on October 30, 2023. This special ceremony will take place during the Monday Night Football matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders at Ford Field. The Pride of the Lions is a permanent display that pays tribute to the greatest players in the franchise’s history.

The announcement came as a surprise to Lomas Brown, who was providing color commentary for the Lions Radio Network during the team’s preseason opener against the New York Giants. Detroit Lions President and CEO Rod Wood personally delivered the news to Brown in the broadcast booth. Following the game, Brown will be available for media interviews in the Lions Postgame Interview Room.

Expressing his pride in the decision, Rod Wood stated, “The Detroit Lions are proud to induct Lomas Brown into the Pride of the Lions, and it couldn’t be more deserved. Lomas was an integral part of our team’s success in the 90s and enjoyed a long and highly successful NFL career. He continues to be a positive presence in our organization and the community at large. He is a bridge between our fans, Lions Legends, and is as much a part of our history as our future.”

Lomas Brown will join the ranks of 19 other esteemed Lions players who have been honored on the Pride of the Lions since its unveiling in 2009. Recent inductees include linebacker Chris Spielman in 2021, defensive tackles Roger Brown and Alex Karras, as well as wide receiver Herman Moore in 2018. The list also includes legendary players such as Lem Barney, Dutch Clark, Barry Sanders, and more.

During his career, Lomas Brown played 11 seasons for the Detroit Lions and a total of 18 seasons in the NFL. He started in 251 out of his 263 career games, with all but one of his 164 games for the Lions. Brown was a Super Bowl champion, a first-team All-Pro selection in 1995, and earned seven Pro Bowl selections. He was also a member of the Detroit Lions 75th Anniversary Team and the All-Time Team.

Before joining the Lions, Lomas Brown had an impressive collegiate career at the University of Florida, where he received numerous accolades and honors. Since 2018, Brown has been the color analyst for the Detroit Lions radio broadcasts.

The induction of Lomas Brown into the Pride of the Lions is a testament to his outstanding contributions to the team and his lasting impact on the franchise’s history. Lions fans and football enthusiasts alike eagerly anticipate this special ceremony as the Detroit Lions continue to honor their legendary players.
