How The Ankara Bombing Developed On The First Day Of The Turkish Parliament

On the day the nation’s parliament was set to convene for the start of the new legislative year, a bomb attack was made against the Turkish interior ministry headquarters in the capital city of Ankara. According to interior minister Ali Yerlikaya, two people in a light commercial truck drove up to the building entrance in the Kizilay area and one of them detonated a suicide device.

The minister said on X, formerly known as Twitter, “One of the terrorists detonated himself, while the other was neutralized by security forces.” Two security force members were hurt after a gunfire exchange, according to the authorities. In the parliament building, where president Recep Tayyip Erdogan was scheduled to speak at the beginning of the new legislative year, the attack was also audible.

The parliament was evacuated immediately after the attack, and bombs were searched for. According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, Ataturk Boulevard was momentarily restricted to traffic at the Cankaya gate of the parliament.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that two police officers were only mildly hurt in the incident. He claimed that a bomb attack was carried out by two terrorists who arrived in a light commercial vehicle in front of the General Directorate of Security’s access gate for our Ministry of Internal Affairs. Both of the terrorists were “neutralized,” with one blowing himself up.

Ali Yerlikaya declared, “Our fight will go on until the last terrorist is eliminated.

Turkey has been engaged in conflict with numerous terrorist organizations, and over time, bombing assaults have targeted its cities.
